United States Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh was previously a long time Judge under the DC
Circuit of Appeals from 2006-2018. In July 2018 a shortlist for a new Justice was revealed which included Kavanaugh’s name to replace retiring Anthony Kennedy. He was eventually selected formally and followed up by a Senate Judiciary Committee vote to confirm him to the court. The committee then held public hearings to question if he could uphold the office and if he deserved their vote.
At the public hearings Kavanaugh was accused of sexual assault by psychology professor Christine Blasey-Ford. Both testified their side of the story and the accusation was further investigated by the FBI which took place during a one week delay of the committee vote. The FBI could not corroborate any allegation and closed by stating such. He was then confirmed and assumed the SCOTUS bench.
